| It's
happened to all of us at some point. You just stare at your
computer screen but you just can't seem to get it together
and actually get to work.
This has
happened to me several times over the years and it always
seems to creep up on me when I least expect it. What do you
do to get past it?
I think
the first thing that helps is just to turn everything off.
Get away from the computer, turn off the cell phone. I know
it may seem difficult to do. In the back of my mind I am always
thinking..."I need to check on those stats.....I may
be missing that call from so and so.....I have to download
the email" blah blah you get the picture. Really though
if you can cut the cord for a little while and immerse yourself
into a hobby just once a week it helps a ton.
Since
I had started in this business in 1997, I had pretty much
dropped all my hobbies and was too interested in just the
online stuff 24/7. A few years later I was totally burned
out. I did not even want to look at the computer anymore.
I was considering buying cheap labor to do my job for me
lol . I would roll out of bed and start downloading my email
and just kinda blank out and stare at the wall for an hour.
Luckily one day while I was zoning out, I saw a spam about
remote controlled cars. This set off alot of memories of when
I used to fly r/c airplanes in the late 80's and early 90's.
I was really into them and was even writing for a large r/c
magazine in 1993 for awhile.......until of course I got burned
out on them.
So I thought,
maybe I should get back into them again, maybe it would help.
I started contacting friends that I flew with, starting buying
parts off Ebay and next thing you know, I was back in it like
I never missed a step. This has helped me alot, because I
now have a whole seperate set of friends and belong to a club
that meets once a month. They have no idea what i do for a
living, I tell them I sell drugs and they laugh it off.
Point
being, if you don't have any hobbies, get one! Anything really,
sports, fishing, art, whatever, it will help you more than
you know. Burn out sucks, but getting away and doing something
else for a bit will bring in fresh inspiration. Or if that
doesn't work, you can just look at this picture for awhile....it
helps also: ~Shok
