DANNY C'S WEEKLY TIP: LOOKING FOR BIGGER DEALS? GO TO THE SMALLER SHOWS!

It still surprises me just how few webmasters show up to anything other than the Internext conventions. Every year, our industry hosts a variety of smaller shows, and even local events. Yet at these smaller shows, the faces are usually the same time after time, and the webmaster count very low. The people who attend these events own or work for large and medium sized companies, and seek business with other large and medium sized companies. At the Cybernet Expo in San Diego, I met one webmaster. Yes, one. Ok, I heard there were a couple more, but obviously webmaster attendance was extremely low.

Maybe that's for the best, as it gives companies the opportunity to focus on larger deals. But why aren't more small companies being represented? I mean the startups and struggling companies trying to squeeze a foot in the door. I see companies like this all over the Internext shows, fighting for scraps among the thousands of webmasters. But perhaps they would be better served to attend smaller events and get the opportunity to have sit-down meetings with representatives of larger companies who can turn some real numbers. I've found that business is much more productive when focus is put on quality deals, rather than quantity. And there really is tons of quality business to be done at these shows!

The San Diego show was a blast, and JBM would like to extend their thanks to the organizers, who did an amazing job of putting things together!

JBM/PureCash's Buses to the Border event went off without a hitch. Everyone made it to Mexico in one piece. For some, getting back was a little more painful... but what's important is that everyone was back in the States that night, and having a great time! We'd like to thank everyone who came out and enjoyed the wonders of Tijuana!

"Before I used to post, I would just lurk the boards once a day. At that time I was completely consumed with the business: checking stats, approving sales, looking for new opportunities, etc. Luckily I don't have to spend all my time on the things I used to do because everything is at the point where it only needs a little maintenance every day. Since I started posting it is almost like they have consumed my life!"
