It concerns me when I see members of any board say things like, "There aren't enough business discussions here," then when I scroll through the threads, I see many political discussions. Or even worse, someone will say, "Why should I talk about politics? I'm here for business-related threads."

Anyone who thinks that politics does not affect business is sorely mistaken. The choice of legislators, judges, and president in the U.S. all affect how laws regarding porn will be drafted, enforced, and judged. The presidents appointment for Attorney General can choose to be aggressive in enforcing these laws, or he/she can be passive. Tax laws affect our bottom line, which affects payouts. Tax laws also affect the amount of money our average porn consumers have to spend on memberships. We're affected by spam laws. We're affected by spyware legislation. We're affected by dialer regulations around the world. Even laws that are seemingly unrelated to our industry can often have a mild (and sometimes even a strong) indirect impact on the amount of money we take home.

Even if you're not interested in politics, you should at least pay a little attention to the policies that will directly affect you and your business. And if you're not willing to do even that much, at least respect the fact that politically oriented board discussions are related to business, and should be considered in the category of "business threads".
